Privacy Policy — Orbix
Octopuxx Labs ("we") respects the privacy of Orbix users ("the app"). This policy describes what data the app processes and how
1. Data Collection
Orbix does not collect, transmit, or sell personal data. The app contains no third-party analytics, tracking, telemetry, or crash-reporting tools
2. Locally Processed Data
All information created by the user stays exclusively on the device:
- App lists, links, and icons configured in the launcher
- Preferences (theme, hot corner, shortcuts, layout) stored via macOS
UserDefaults - Backups and exports created on user request, saved as local files at a location chosen by the user
This data never leaves the Mac, except for backups the user voluntarily chooses to save to a personal cloud service (e.g. iCloud Drive), which is not operated by or accessible to Octopuxx Labs
3. Network Connections
The only feature that makes network requests is the automatic favicon retrieval for web links the user adds to the launcher:
- Only the domain name (e.g.
github.com) is sent to Google's favicon service (google.com/s2/favicons) or, as a fallback, directly to the domain itself (/favicon.ico) - No personal identifier, account-linked IP address, browsing history, or other identifying data is sent beyond what is normally transmitted by any HTTP request
- Retrieved images are stored in a local cache (memory and disk, in
Application Support/Orbix/favicons) to reduce future requests
This is a technical function equivalent to loading an icon from a website and, in our assessment, does not constitute collection of personal data
4. Third-Party Sharing
Orbix does not share any data with third parties, except for the technical requests described in section 3 (Google's favicon service), necessary solely to display the site icon
5. Data Retention
Data remains on the user's device for as long as the app is installed, or until the user manually deletes it (removing lists/items, uninstalling the app)
6. User Rights (GDPR)
Because Orbix does not collect or transmit personal data to Octopuxx Labs, there is no data processing for which Octopuxx Labs acts as data controller under the GDPR. The user retains full control over their data, which is stored locally, and can delete it at any time by uninstalling the app or removing its preferences
7. Changes to This Policy
Any future changes (for example, if a license verification system is introduced) will be published on this page with an updated date. In that case, this policy will be extended to cover data processed by the license verification provider and the payment processor
